Cassarola de French Toast



Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp corn syrup
1 (8 to 9) inch round loaf Challah bread (we used Sara Lee Texas Toast bread - it's not quite an inch thick, but close).
5 large eggs
1 1/2 cups half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon Grand Marnier (we used cinnamon)
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
In a small heavy saucepan melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring until smooth, and pour into a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking dish. Cut 6 (1-inch) thick slices from center portion of bread, reserving ends for another use, and trim crusts. Arrange bread slices in one layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit. In a bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla, cinnamon and salt until combined well and pour evenly over bread. Chill bread mixture, covered, at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and bring bread mixture to room temperature. Bake uncovered in middle of oven until puffed and edges are pale golden, 35 to 40 minutes.


To serve, cut into pieces and put on plate upside down. The original recipe called for whipped cream on top, but we thought it was plenty sweet enough. Yum!

Muchos Pancakes!



Manzana con yogur

2 huevos
1 2 / 3 tazas de leche
1 taza de yogur natural
1 / 4 taza de aceite vegetal
2 1 / 2 tazas de harina de trigo integral (o harina de trigo para repostería funciona muybien)
1 cucharadita de polvo para hornear
1 / 2 cucharadita de bicarbonato de sodio
1 / 4 cucharadita de sal
1 1 / 2 cucharaditas de canela en polvo
1 manzana de buen tamaño - peladas, sin corazón y cortadas en cubitos

En un tazón grande, mezcle los huevos, la leche, el yogur y el aceite hasta que estén bien mezclados. Combine la harina, el polvo de hornear, el bicarbonato, la sal y la canela, revuelva en la mezcla de la leche hasta que quede suave. Veces en lamanzana picada.

De trigo (basicos, saludables, ricos, los mas comun que hago)

3 1 / 2 tazas de copos (rápida) avena
5 tazas de harina de trigo integral
3 cucharadas de azúcar (yo uso sucanat en su lugar)
3 cucharadas de polvo para hornear
1 cucharada de sal
1 cucharada de bicarbonato de sodio
1 taza de aceite vegetal





De Canela (talvez mis favoritos!)

  • 1-½ cupAll-purpose Flour
  • 3 TablespoonsWhite Sugar
  • ½ teaspoonsSalt
  • 4 teaspoonsBaking Powder
  • 1 TablespoonCinnamon
  • 2 wholeEggs Beaten
  • 1 cupMilk
  • 2 TablespoonsCorn Syrup
  • ¼ cupsButter, Melted
  • 1 TablespoonVanilla

In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and cinnamon with a whisk. Whisk well to make sure everything is combined.
In separate large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, corn syurp, butter and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium/low heat. Pour about 1/4 cup batter onto griddle. Brown on both sides.
Serve warm with icing drizzled over the top.





Para encima:


1 vaso de acucar de polvo
1/4 de mantequia deritida
pinchito de sal
1 cucharra de maple syrup
1/4 vaso de leche entero y mas si es necessaria. 


Revuelve los ingredientes y agrega mas leche si es necessarrio.
